Laufey – A Matter of Time [CD]

Description

Time ebbs and flows. Something we cannot control, although we wish we could…

Laufeys third album…A Matter Of Time…is finally here.

A Matter of Time is a beautiful masterpiece of introspection about the anguish that comes with life and love. Laufey has captivated a generation with virtuosic songs of love and self-discovery by manifesting her vision of jazz and classical-infused pop music. But after becoming the youngest ever recipient of the GRAMMY for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album (for Bewitched), the Icelandic-Chinese composer, singer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist feels freer than ever to, as she puts it, let my heart wander. For her third album, A Matter of Time, Laufey teams with fellow producers Spencer Stewart and Aaron Dessner to break the set of expectations she herself set, serving up a transcendent sound and honest writing that cuts to the heart. Its the culmination of an incredible journey that began with her playing cello with the Iceland Symphony as a teen before writing her first charting single while studying at Berklee College of Music.

Laufeys many achievements have since grown to include 4.25 billion global streams, a social media audience of 23 million, the biggest jazz LP debut in Spotify history, an album in Billboards Top 20, a pile of Platinum plaques, a Forbes 30 Under 30 designation, and, in 2025, being named one of TIMEs Women of the Year. Shes also: sold out the Hollywood Bowl, Radio City Music Hall, and Londons Royal Albert Hall; performed backed by the LA Phil, the National Symphony Orchestra, and the China Philharmonic Orchestra; shared the stage with the likes of Jon Batiste and Raye; and collaborated on record with artists ranging from Beabadoobee to Norah Jones.

This album will transcend Laufey into new heights, and the physical rollout plays a special role in the overall creative strategy. There are several vinyl variants launching on May 15, 3 CDs, and 1 cassette. All uniquely representing moments in time.
