Description

LP – 180g Black Vinyl. Verve Acoustic Sound Series Edition in Stoughton Printing Gatefold old-style tip-on jacket. Mastered by Matthew Lutthans at The Mastering Lab from the original analog master tape. Series supervised by Chad Kassem CEO of Acoustic Sounds.

Released by Verve Records in 1965, The Shadow of Your Smile captures Astrud Gilberto at the height of her cool, understated magic the moment where bossa nova’s breezy elegance met lush, mid-’60s studio sophistication. With beautifully tailored arrangements by Don Sebesky, Claus Ogerman, and Joo Donato, the album bathes Gilberto’s iconic whisper-soft vocals in orchestral warmth and subtle Brazilian swing.

A crossover favorite that climbed to No. 66 on the Billboard 200, this is Astrud in full command of her artistry, moving effortlessly between intimate torch-song moods and sunlit bossa textures.

Seeking to offer definitive audiophile grade versions of some of the most historic and best jazz records ever recorded, Verve Label Group and Universal Music Enterprises‘ audiophile Acoustic Sounds vinyl reissue series utilises the skills of top mastering engineers and the unsurpassed production craft of Quality Record Pressings.
