IAN ANDERSON’S ACCLAIMED SOLO CLASSIC RETURNS ON VINYL IN A BEAUTIFULLY PRESENTED 2LP EDITION – A POETIC & ECLECTIC JOURNEY, NEWLY PRESSED ON BLACK VINYL WITH SIDE-D ETCHING.
First released in 2000, ‘The Secret Language Of Birds’ saw Ian Anderson at his most introspective & stylistically diverse, delivering a deeply personal collection of songs that blend folk, rock, world music & classical influences with effortless grace.
Written & recorded at Anderson’s home studio, this album stands apart within his catalogue for its intimate atmosphere & organic charm. Across its richly varied tracks, Anderson’s signature flute work intertwines with acoustic instrumentation, subtle rhythms & evocative storytelling, creating a soundscape that is both pastoral & worldly. From the reflective beauty of the title track to the playful energy of “The Habanero Reel” & the cinematic sweep of “Panama Freighter,” each piece reveals a different facet of his musical language.
Lyrically, ‘The Secret Language Of Birds’ draws on themes of nature, travel & quiet observation, offering a series of vivid musical vignettes that feel both personal & universal. The album’s delicate balance of melody & mood has made it a fan favourite, celebrated for its warmth, wit & understated sophistication.
Now available as a 2LP set, this edition presents the album across four sides of black vinyl, allowing the music’s detail & dynamics to breathe in a format perfectly suited to its nuanced arrangements. Side D features a beautifully crafted vinyl etching of the two birds from the original cover artwork.
