Lok, Pat – Spectrum [12″ Vinyl]

Description

Pat Lok & Megan Vice team up for the first time, bringing the ‘Spectrum’ two-tracker to Brooklyn label Toucan Sounds. ‘Conceived in the heart of Brooklyn, this female empowerment anthem addresses mental health at a time when women are reclaiming their narratives and refusing to suffer in silence.’ The title track, ‘Spectrum’, sees Pat Lok & Megan Vice pair an earworm chord progression and smooth groove with Vice’s commanding rap vocals, sending a message of strength and solidarity. ‘Waste My Time’ then follows with a grungy, punk-tinged energy, where acidic basslines meet Vice’s subtly distorted voice, rounding out a defiant double anthem already supported by Robert Owens, Jamie Jones, and Sam Divine. Vancouver’s Pat Lok and Berlin-based Megan Vice meet at the crossroads of R&B, House, and electronic club culture, yet both bring their own unmistakable voice. Pat Lok’s sleek, soulful productions and genre-fluid approach complement Vice’s bold fusion of electronic, hip-hop, and disco-pop, with her unapologetic lyrics and vibrant persona pushing the music into new territory on the ‘Spectrum’ EP.Tracklisting: A1.
