Pre-Order: POND – Terrestrials [CD]

Description

Beloved Australian five-piece POND offer a skerrick ofhope in a hostile world with their new record – their11th – Terrestrials. A cyclone of urgent, scorchedearth rock’n’roll, Terrestrials tips the hat to the soundsof then while squarely facing up to the here and now.Conceived from a place of reverence for a particularlypotent epoch in Oz rock, Terrestrials mines the soundof open sky melancholia, heat haze sizzling on theplains and jangly pub backrooms that hits an eternallypoignant nerve for anyone familiar with the sound, time and place.Like much of The Pond catalogue, Terrestrials is arecord of people and place, of exploring the identityof each, as well as where and how they intersect andinteract. Terrestrials twitches with the desperation ofpeople and planet on the brink, but ultimately bets onthe beauty of both to prevail.”This one is hitting me this morning. It’s got all thisstrutting, preening glam-rock/new wave energy, butit’s too weird and oblique to play as pure pastiche.” -Stereogum on “Terrestrials”
