Description
Limited edition, 180-gram LP
Of the many albums recorded by the Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Orchestra, this was the greatest, introducing Jones’ best-known composition, “A Child Is Born”.
The sound quality of this vinyl recording is dazzling. All of the instruments (even in a heavily blended configuration) are vibrant, and possess a warm resonance (especially the reeds). Delicate touches like a drum brush or flute emerge from the mix unfettered. … Consummation is a tremendous accomplishment, especially on hi-res vinyl. 5/5 Robbie Gerson, Audiophile Audition
