The Meters – Struttin (Hol) [CD]

Description

“Struttin” is the third studio album by the American funk band The Meters, released in 1970. Widely regarded as one of their finest works, it played a crucial role in the evolution of funk music, cementing The Meters’ reputation as one of the most influential instrumental funk bands of the late ’60s and early ’70s. On “Struttin,” The Meters showcase their tight, groove-oriented sound, blending elements of New Orleans R&B with deep funk rhythms. Their ability to craft infectious, minimalist grooves was ahead of it’s time, making the album a foundational influence on the emerging funk scene. Known for it’s syncopated rhythms, tight basslines, and horn-driven arrangements, “Struttin” captures The Meters’ instrumental mastery. The band’s signature ‘pocket’ funk – emphasizing rhythm and feel over melody – shines throughout, marking a high point in their early catalog.
